Hiking
Due to its wide range of mountains and massifs, the Romanian Carpathians
offer an exceptionally rich variety of hiking trails, for both experienced climbers
and inexperienced hikers alike. The constantly changing scenery, trails of various
difficulty, and the wildlife that the Carpathians are gifted with, will create
a wonderful experience that everyone should try it at least once in their lifetime.
| | Skiing*
The big Romanian Carpathians also offer some great skiing opportunity, both
on organized slopes or just off-the-beaten-track. The numerous ski resorts spread
all over our mountain ranges are the perfect pick for a wonderful holiday in a
mountain chalet with the ski slopes only a walk away. The numerous forests and
mountain slopes give a chance to the more brave ones, who like to have an unique
experience on slopes untouched since the coming of the snow.
| | Alpine
randonee skiing* If you don't like the crowds and you just
simply like to experience a trip in the middle of nature on skies, try some of
the wonderful rolling hills at the foothills of the mountains or the forest tracks
with its numerous surprises. Right now alpine randonee skiing is not very popular
in Romania so you will not use any organized ski routes. It's simply one of the
best experiences in the mountain areas in winter: a wild off-the-beaten track
and images of local people's life in communion with the nature and wildlife that
surrounds them. | | |
| | Cycling
& mountainbiking If you enjoy being very active all the
time and you want to experience Romania from the saddle of a bike, then don't
worry! No matter what kind of trail you choose, a mountain trail or just a ride
on the hills through medieval villages, you're effort will be completely worth
it at the end of the day by the pastoral scenery, friendly people and some great
experiences. | | |
| | Water
sport activities* The great number and different types of
rivers in Romania, plus the unique Danube Delta (one of the biggest delta's in
Europe) offer numerous possibilities for all water lovers. From rafting on mountain
rivers with wooden rafts, to silent canoeing on the calm waters on the channels
of the delta. The delta for example is absolute teeming with birdlife, while its
also home to people with their very own customs and traditions.

The idyllic scenery of the villages, the beauty of the medieval towns, the
impressive massifs of the Carpathians, its wildlife, the traditional way of life
and the amazing people of Romania are only a few things that can be captured forever
by the lens of a camera in a wonderful trip in one of the most undiscovered countries
in Europe. | | |
| | Bird-watching,
wild flowers and wildlife Maybe because of the many wild areas,
maybe because of the traditional way of living that survived for centuries, or
maybe just because... today Romania is home to some of the greatest wildlife in
Europe. Places like Danube Delta, or the various rivers and lakes are home to
hundreds of migratory and resident birds, like pelican. While the mountains host
large carnivores, like bear and wolf. The alpine meadows and the hayfields enchant
anyone's eye with the multitude of colors and variety, ranging from mediterranean
to alpine flora. | | |
| | Culture
and history Romania didn't seem so promising when the borders
were finally opened after 1990, being isolated for many years behind the Iron
curtain. But the countries thousands of year's of history and culture left many
traces that can still be seen today. Medieval towns, traditional villages, songs,
costumes and dances, ethnic groups and religions are a tangible mark of Romania,
even today in the 21st century.
| | Crafts
camps Tradition changes very little
in the everyday life of the people living in the countryside. Many of the traditional
occupations and crafts survived the time and are still very much alive in many
parts of Romania. If you want to be a part of this life, even for just a short
while, our craft camps are the perfect answer. Pottery, weaving, straw knitting,
egg painting or vegetal dyeing are all surviving crafts in many villages of the
country. | | |
